About Us

The House of Africa is an institution that promotes African culture in America. It was created in 1997 by Pape Seydou Ndiaye who left his native country, Senegal West Africa to come to America to reprise the power of the African culture among the multi-cultural diversity of the community.

In addition, Pape Seydou Ndiaye is the President of the Juneteenth Festival of the Carolinas.

Pape Seydou Ndiaye feels Charlotte has been good to him. Living in Charlotte is a choice for him, not against his will.  He thanks GOD and the ancestors for giving him the House of Africa. It keeps him doing what he likes to do best. That is sharing his knowledge and resources with the Charlotte community. If he had a choice to live somewhere else it would be Senegal, West Africa.

Pape feels a better integration between different races and also more involvement from the City of Charlotte into community-oriented activities like Juneteenth Festival of the Carolinas would be beneficial to all.
